Audio Visual Installation

CASE STUDY Edge Hill University, Ormskirk

Brief

During the summer of 2007 Quadrant were delighted to be awarded the contract to design and supply the audio visual systems within the new Faculty of Health (FoH) building at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk.

The building houses one 800 seat lecture auditorium, which can uniquely be divided into one 500 seat and two 150 seat lecture theatres using a huge moving wall system. The brief was to design the audio visual facilities to adapt to the configuration of the rooms.

Solution

Our solution was to use systems based on Crestron control with full integration into the buildings BMS system, providing control of the lighting, heating, blinds and windows as well as the audio visual equipment. Source inputs include PCs, DVDs, video conferencing, visualisers and camera recording systems. All inputs are switched and scaled to XGA resolution before being displayed on single Panasonic PT-D5700 projectors in the smaller rooms, with dual projection screens and two plasma screens in the large theatre.

The building includes a central control room with full control over all three facilities. In addition the sophisticated routing systems allow any signal to be routed to any display or recording device no matter where it is located within the facility. Finally, with many high profile lectures and degree ceremonies planned the University will make full use the comprehensive camera and recording facilities within each area and the ability to webcast from any of the areas.
