In 2006 Honda opened their new multi-million pound wind tunnel building. Incorporated into this is the new Honda F1 Racing Experience Visitor Centre. Our brief was to design the audiovisual systems for a high definition presentation theatre as well as the experience centre visitor gallery.
The Honda F1 presentation theatre was designed to provide stunning high definition projected images. The Barco Icon projector operates at 1080i HD format, ideal for viewing high-resolution images from PC, or action packed footage of the racing itself.
For audio reproduction we installed a 7.1 surround sound system using KEF Uni-Q Speakers to great effect. In addition KEF sub-bass units were installed under the seating to help create the feeling of being totally immersed in the Honda F1 Racing experience.
The visitor gallery was installed with nine Barco 42” High Definition screens and a multi zone audio system, providing localised audio for the many different exhibits and areas.
The complete system is controlled by a Crestron system via a touch panel and also a remote control handset which may be used anywhere throughout the area, providing comprehensive control of the many sources, audio zones and lighting effects.
