Our brief was to design and install a broadcast standard Television Studio Centre suitable for the new Centre for Professional Development in Broadcasting and Multimedia Production at Southampton Solent University.
The sophisticated digital multi-camera studio and three wall chroma-key environment offer maximum flexibility within which programme makers can explore unlimited possibilities.
Equipped with three Sony Widescreen digital cameras mounted on Vinten Pedestals, the studio floor is lit by a comprehensive cool light system from Photon Beard.
The gallery has three separate areas for audio, racks and vision, the centrepiece of which is a 65” high definition plasma screen rather than a traditional monitor bank. Up to ten sources are displayed together on the plasma, along with clock, talley light indication and electronic source labels.
The Ross Synergy Vision mixer is the heart of the switching system as part of the design we’ve made extensive use of the mixers auxiliary switching system to route any input source to a variety of monitor screens on the studio floor.
Other features include DVCAM / DVD recording, digital audio mixing, two Apple FCP edit suites as source feeds and full engineering facilities.
A true Television Studio Centre of Excellence.
